Main features of the position
We are looking for passionate individuals who can mentor children at Primary grades, (A Montessori Elementary environment) at our school. This post is based out of our campus located in Coimbatore. Primary function will be support children’s learning; help foster an inclusive environment, encourage intellectual curiosity and be consistent with the best of Montessori education.
Job Responsibilities
1. To facilitate learning in children of all abilities across ages between 6 and 12.
2. To take into account the differing ability of students and differentiate work accordingly.
3. To encourage all students to actively pursue independent learning.
4. To ensure safety of children at all times within the campus.
5. To encourage and foster intellectual curiosity, critical thinking and inquiry in children.
6. To formulate learning plan to cater to the needs of each individual child.
7. To contribute towards development of innovative learning materials that can be reused.
8. To participate in events such as webinars, conferences and act as primary liaison.
9. Liaison with the management and other teachers or parents as and when required while maintaining at most confidentiality.
10. Attend teachers’ meetings, parents’ meetings and school events both within and outside campus.
11. Perform such other duties as the teachers and management may from time to time reasonably require.
12. Uphold the well enshrined ethos of our school and the teaching pedagogy.
13. Willingness to attend training courses to reskill, upskill as necessary for work.
14. Maintaining student records, reports, evaluations, inventories.
15. Completing all progress monitoring and benchmark assessments on time as scheduled.
Essential Criteria
• A bachelor’s degree at the minimum.
• Experience of working with children, preferably within a Montessori environment.
• Personal warmth, patience, tolerance, empathy, understanding and positivity.
• Exceptional self-motivation and sense of responsibility & commitment to children.
• Ability to work both as part of a team and independently, co-operating and working with fellow teachers and parents.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Flexibility and adaptability to work with both on-line and off-line medium.
• Capacity to be a role model worthy of imitation by children under care.
Preferred Criteria
• Experience of working within a school with multiple learning/teaching pedagogy.
• Montessori certification from a recognized institute of repute.
• Experience in drama, theatre, story telling will be a plus.
• Ability to upskill and reskill rapidly.
Personal Attributes
• Warmth in social interaction; allowing children to be themselves, ex: letting children to try things for themselves while being present if help is required, without comment or judgement.
• Patience - ex: allowing children’s participation in activities to unfold in its natural time.
• Tolerance and perseverance - ex: awareness of the need for repetition in development of skills.
• Empathy - to strive to understand the position of the other.
• Reverence - for the surroundings and each individual within it.
• Willingness to learn - participate in Continued Personal and Professional development.
