Position details

Position summary
The buyer provides parts, equipment, and materials by developing sources of supply and monitoring supplier performance, obtaining required parts, equipment and materials, verifying receipt of items, authorizing payment, and managing and controlling inventory.

Principal activities
Receive and review purchase requisition.
Assists in purchase order acknowledgements (contract acceptance) with suppliers and updates
Collect all cost information and do project costing, compare with sales mc.
Float enquiries for non-standard products.
Manages incoming shipment discrepancies with receiving and/or suppliers.
Authorizes procurement of inventory, tooling and mro items within established signature authority guidelines.
Set target cost for project and hard negotiate to get at target cost.
Establish kanban / min-max for recurring items and manage the same.
Control inventory at targeted levels.
Manage funds through enhanced credit terms
Handle supplier related issues.
Timely follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time receipt for assembly

Knowledge, skills & abilities

Understanding of overall materials flow and other functions linked to the supply chain.
Price negotiation, price analysis, supplier selection.
Erp knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of inventory management concepts.
High ethical standards. Models and supports organization’s goals and values; adapts to changing conditions; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.
Uses time effectively, prioritizes and organizes work flow; can orchestrate multiple activities lity and personal adaptability with the ability to successfully management multiple priorities with a high sense of urgency in a rapidly changing environment.
Solid analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data; makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment.

Education & experience

Education:

bachelor of engineering - mechanical / production

Experience:

5 to 8 years of hands on experience in handling plant supply chain activities. Preferably in procurement activities related to castings, machined castings, forgings, fittings, bar stock, precision mc components, soft goods, c- class items, instruments, accessories, outside machining and special processes.
