Support Accountant Band 4East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust delivers expert healthcare in people’s homes, community hospitals and local settings across the East of England. The Finance Team is looking for an active accounting student with strong communication skills to join as a Support Accountant. This role provides experience in management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting within the NHS.
Main duties of the job- Management accounting, including raising invoices, monitoring supplier payments, and drafting management accounting reports.
- Assisting in producing budgets, forecasts and performance reports within the department’s reporting framework and timetable.
- Supporting the administration of financial controls, systems updates and the Trust’s lease car arrangements and over payments.
- Assisting with the preparation of annual accounts and working autonomously within Trust policies, national guidance and within their scope of practice.
- Managing business unit financials: reconciliation, reporting, BPP target compliance, internal recharges and budget statements.
- Reconciling and clearing suspense accounts, liaising with payroll on salary over payments, and providing advice to staff on over payment queries.
- Administering financial arrangements of the Trust’s car leasing, including P3 preparation and lease invoice coding.
- Reconciliation of salary deduction accounts in the general ledger.
- Participating in surveys, audits and research & development activities as required.
- Observing and maintaining strict confidentiality, data protection and informed consent policies.
- NVQ Level 4/AAT Technician Level or equivalent experience.
- Good technical skills and experience using IT systems, particularly MS Excel.
- Team player with the ability to work closely with others.
- Advanced keyboard skills.
- Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
- Experience using Oracle and ESR.
- Ensures that financial information provided to others is accurate, timely and useful.
- Experience of working in a finance environment with knowledge of reconciliations, double entry bookkeeping, payables, receivables and financial systems.
- Experience of management accounting within the public sector.
- Good communication skills, able to communicate with internal and external managers.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
- Able to identify with the Trust’s commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults.
- Demonstrates understanding of safeguarding issues.
- Appreciates the significance of safeguarding and interprets this accurately for all individual children and young people/vulnerable adults whatever their life circumstances.
- Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English Language.
