Finance Assistant

Location:

Colchester (office-based)
Salary: £26,000 per annum

Hours:

40 hours per week

A well-established organisation is seeking a Finance Assistant / Office Administrator to join its busy finance team based in Colchester. This role is ideal for someone looking to start or develop a career within finance or administration, offering structured training and the opportunity to progress into billing or transactional finance work over time.

The Role
Initially, you will provide administrative support to the finance function, ensuring documentation, correspondence and records are processed efficiently. As you gain experience, you will be trained in basic billing processes and wider finance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

* Scanning, photocopying and organising documents

* Preparing outgoing post, including printing letters, envelope preparation and franking

* Contacting sites via email to request outstanding documentation

* Maintaining accurate electronic and paper filing systems

* Providing general administrative support to the finance team

* Assisting teams such as billing, credit control, allocations and accounts payable when required

* Learning finance systems and billing processes over time

Candidate Requirements

* Strong attention to detail and accuracy

* Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload

* Confident written and verbal communication skills

* Basic IT skills including Outlook and Microsoft Office

* Positive attitude and willingness to learn

* Previous office experience is helpful but not essential

Working Arrangements
This is primarily an office-based role. Hybrid working may be considered after successful training and once the role can be performed independently.
