About the Role
We are seeking an efficient and highly organised Medical Secretary to join our dynamic team at Mill Road Surgery on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our practice, supporting our medical staff, and providing excellent service to our patients.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Provide administrative support to doctors and other healthcare professionals
- Prepare and manage correspondence, including letters, emails, and reports
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy
- Handle telephone and face-to-face enquiries from patients, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
- Process referrals, tasks and incoming emails from patients and third-party providers
- Assist in the preparation of medical documents
- Ensure the practice’s policies and procedures are adhered to, particularly in relation to patient confidentiality and data protection
- Coordinate with other staff members to ensure a seamless patient experience
We would welcome applications from those with the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience as a secretary or a role of similar nature
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, knowledge of Systm One is also desirable
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A positive attitude and a commitment to providing excellent patient care
Mill Road Surgery has a practice list size of over 18,000 patients and use Systm One. We have regularly been voted top in the NHS Patient Survey for GP Surgeries in Colchester.
