We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our MoD Business Unit in Colchester. This is a key role within a dedicated and motivated team delivering strategic defence contracts. You will play a critical part in driving business growth by successfully managing the full project lifecycle—from bid stage through to delivery—ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle, including bid management and execution.
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage project timelines, milestones, budgets and resources.
- Own and present project reviews and status updates to senior management.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver solutions aligned to customer needs.
- Develop and maintain risk registers, managing dependencies and critical paths.
- Ensure adherence to project schedules, KPIs and contractual deliverables.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and manage change, including chargeable variations and scope control.
- Monitor project performance, including cost variance, ROI and earned value.
- Support business growth by identifying new opportunities and bids.
- Proven experience in Project Management (essential).
- Engineering background (advantageous).
- PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across a multifunctional organisation.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and reporting capability.
- Proficient in MS Project, Excel and Word.
- Self-motivated with a proactive, “can-do” approach.
- Willingness to travel when required.
- A collaborative mindset, contributing to a culture of teamwork and shared success.
