Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in Hard FM, construction, building services or estate projects looking for a role where you can take real ownership of complex works?

Sodexo is looking for a Hard FM Project Manager to join our team at Merville Barracks, Colchester, CO2 7UT
, leading a varied portfolio of projects and lifecycle works across a busy operational estate.

This is a hands-on project management role with significant responsibility. You'll manage projects from initial scope and planning through procurement, contractor management and delivery to final handover, taking ownership of budgets, programme, quality, compliance and stakeholder communication.

Working closely with the client, MoD stakeholders, contractors and Sodexo operational teams, you'll need to be confident managing multiple projects and competing priorities while maintaining business-as-usual operations.

We're particularly interested in hearing from Project Managers with experience across Hard FM, construction, building services, refurbishment, maintenance or complex estates who are comfortable managing contractors, budgets and demanding stakeholders.

What you'll do:
  • Take ownership of multiple Hard FM, construction, maintenance and lifecycle projects from initial scope through to completion and handover.
  • Develop project programmes, scopes, specifications and tender documentation, supporting procurement, evaluation and contractor mobilisation.
  • Manage project budgets, cost control, forecasting and financial reporting, ensuring works remain commercially controlled throughout delivery.
  • Coordinate and manage contractors and subcontractors, monitoring programme, performance, quality and compliance.
  • Review RAMS, permits and project documentation and ensure works comply with relevant Health & Safety legislation and site requirements.
  • Work closely with client and MoD stakeholders, providing clear project updates, managing expectations and responding effectively to changing operational priorities.
  • Coordinate works within a live operational environment, carefully planning delivery to minimise disruption to services.
  • Undertake building and asset condition surveys and use findings to support project and lifecycle planning.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues early, and take appropriate action to keep delivery on track.
  • Complete post-project inspections and audits, ensuring works meet agreed specifications, quality standards and contractual requirements.
  • Maintain accurate project, asset and financial records and ensure relevant systems and asset registers are updated following completion.
  • Support the wider Hard FM operation by providing project expertise and ensuring project activity aligns with the overall estate and maintenance strategy.
What you bring:
  • Proven project management experience within Hard FM, construction, building services, maintenance, refurbishment or a similar technical environment.
  • Experience managing projects from scope and planning through procurement, delivery and handover.
  • Strong contractor and supply-chain management experience.
  • Demonstrable experience managing project budgets, cost control and financial reporting.
  • Good working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within construction, engineering or FM environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to work with senior clients, contractors and operational teams.
  • The ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritise effectively and respond to changing requirements.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
