Overview
Job Summary:
This is a Permanent post. Applications are invited for the post of a Specialty Grade doctor at the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust. The Departments of Oncology are within the 'Oncology & Haematology Clinical Delivery Group' of the 'Cancer and Diagnostics' Division. The post holder will work according to an agreed job plan and is expected to support cancer services across a wide range of tumour sites;
special interest in certain tumour sites can be considered as part of the job plan. The job plan will be reviewed annually and will cover clinical work, research and education, with personal objectives and links to wider service objectives.
10 PA's will be offered. A minimum of 8.5 PA's will be for Direct Patient Care and 1.5 PA's for SPA (supporting professional activity).
Expected commitments will include: multi-disciplinary ward meetings, new patient clinics, chemotherapy review clinics, follow-up clinics, support to Radiotherapy units and Chemotherapy day units, ward consultations, other ward rounds, attendance at relevant site-specific MDTs, and audit, research, CPD, appraisal and revalidation.

General
- There is an excellent Postgraduate Medical Centre with a modern lecture theatre, seminar rooms and a library; access to electronic bibliographic databases and journals.
- Time will be allowed for Continuing Medical Education (30 days over a 3 year period) with a local ceiling of £700 per annum.
- The post-holder will participate in programmes for teaching medical students, training junior doctors and clinical examinations; this is expected to be an integral part of everyday clinical activity.
- The post-holder will stay up-to-date with their area of practice and may receive professional or study leave to support study, postgraduate training, CME courses and other personal development needs.

Person SpecificationEssential
- Full GMC
- 4 years post-registration clinical practice
- Experience in both general medicine and oncology
- Experience at middle grade registrar/staff grade level
Desirable
- MRCP, MD or equivalent
- Peer-reviewed publication
