Learning Support Assistant

Autism Anglia and Doucecroft School, based in Colchester, are seeking a Learning Support Assistant after a recent promotion. The successful LSA will aim to inspire and encourage learners to develop their knowledge and confidence across multiple educational disciplines, facilitating a supportive and safe environment for learning. This is an exciting opportunity that would be well suited to Learning Support Assistants who enjoy supporting learners in both an individual and group setting.

Location: Doucecroft School, Eight Ash Green, Colchester, CO6

Salary: £21,717.93 per annum (Term Time only, plus additional days for training)

Hours: 38.5 hours, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per annum (term time only) plus 3 days per annum during school holidays

• Provide direct support to learners in the classroom and in individual settings.
• Take an active role in a wide range of classroom and physical activities throughout the academic year; assist and work closely with the class teacher and teaching assistant, including counselling duties.
• Assist the class teacher and teaching assistant to contribute to lessons.
• Gain excellent on-the-job training and ongoing professional development, support, and supervision.
• Assist with preparation for lessons, contribute to and carry out schemes of work, Individual Student Plans (ISP) and Care Plans under the direction of the class teacher.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of each learner’s stage of development, assessment, communication, ISPs, and management programmes.
• Support the class teacher in planning and preparing for educational visits and school journeys, and accompany learners on visits.
• Work with learners during lunch and supervise break times.
• Comply with and promote school policies related to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection.
• Potential driving responsibilities.

• NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning (highly desirable but not essential).
• Maths and English GCSE Grade C or above.
• Relevant experience working with learners with autism or learning disabilities in an educational setting (highly advantageous).
• Driving license (highly desirable).
