The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to work within a mainstream or specialist setting supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored academic and pastoral support, helping pupils to access learning and reach their full potential.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or an aspiring education professional who is passionate about inclusive education and supporting pupils with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND

• Support pupils with EHCP targets and personalised learning plans

• Adapt learning materials to meet individual needs

• Implement behaviour support strategies consistently

• Support pupils with communication, social and emotional development

• Assist with sensory regulation strategies where required

• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

• Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and SEND policies at all times

Qualifications and Experience

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND

• Understanding of EHCPs and personalised support strategies

• Experience supporting pupils with needs such as ASC, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language difficulties

• Calm, patient and adaptable approach

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice

• Relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential)
