We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join the team at Colchester, a specialist primary provision supporting pupils across KS1 and KS2 who have experienced barriers to learning.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, and those who have faced challenges in mainstream education, helping them re‑engage, rebuild confidence, and succeed.
About UsProvision offering interim alternative and specialist education. The Colchester site is home to a specialist SEMH provision for pupils with EHCPs, supporting children referred through Permanent Exclusion, Request for Support, and SEND Operations.
Our mission is simple: to help every pupil overcome barriers, re‑engage with learning, and successfully transition to their next stage in education.
The RoleYou will work closely with the SENCo, Senior Leadership Team and teaching staff to provide both 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally.
You'll play a key role in creating a safe, structured and nurturing environment, where every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils' learning, progress and emotional wellbeing
- Work with children with SEND and SEMH needs, including those with trauma backgrounds
- Build strong, positive relationships and model excellent behaviour
- Assist with planning, interventions and classroom delivery
- Engage with families and carers to support pupil development
Contribute to a collaborative and reflective team environment
- Experience working with KS1/KS2 pupils (essential)
- Strong literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
- Experience supporting children with SEND and/or SEMH needs (desirable)
- A calm, resilient and proactive approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for inclusive education

Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
Friday: 8:30am – 3:00pm
