A friendly and inclusive primary school in Colchester is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (LSA) to join their team, supporting pupils with additional needs. This is a full-time, long-term position starting immediately, offering a rewarding opportunity to be part of a supportive and welcoming school community.
About the RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with SEN needs, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and feel fully included in the classroom.
You’ll work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, providing both 1:1 and small group support, adapting activities where needed, and helping to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
This is a varied and hands‑on role where no two days are the same — perfect for someone who enjoys building relationships and supporting children to thrive.
What You’ll Be Doing- Supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Helping children engage with classroom learning and activities
- Adapting tasks to meet individual needs
- Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive behaviour
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and social development
- Assisting with classroom routines and transitions
- Working closely with the teacher, SENCO, and wider staff team
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school setting
- Understanding or experience of SEN support
- A patient, positive, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Someone who is reliable, adaptable, and proactive
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s development
