Position: Learning Support Assistant (EBSA Secondary)
Location: Tiptree

Learning Support Assistant (EBSA Secondary)

Location: Tiptree, Essex
Salary: Scale 5 (Points 10-13)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week

Working Hours
  • Monday to Thursday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Friday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
Responsibilities
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable young people.
  • Deliver tailored interventions to support emotional wellbeing and engagement.
  • Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Help pupils develop coping strategies, confidence and independence.
  • Support learning activities alongside teaching staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with families, teachers and external agencies.
  • Monitor progress and celebrate individual achievements.
About You
  • Experience supporting children or young people in education, care, youth work, SEND, SEMH or a similar environment.
  • A good understanding of trauma, anxiety and the barriers some young people face in accessing education.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Desirable
  • Experience supporting pupils with EBSA, SEMH or SEND.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Trauma‑informed practice training.
  • Experience working with vulnerable or disengaged learners.
