Position Summary
Learning Support Assistant at Philip Morant School and College, a large secondary school in Colchester. The role supports learners with Special Educational Needs in full class settings, interventions, and as a key worker. The position is part‑time (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm) and runs 39 weeks per year including term time and non‑pupil days.
Responsibilities- Provide classroom support to individuals or small groups of students with SEND.
- Act as a key worker, supporting identified students across all areas of their SEND needs.
- Assist in planning, organising and implementing withdrawal interventions.
- Complete Individual Plans and Pupil Passports together with students and parents.
- Successful recent experience working with children in a learning environment.
- Ability to apply a range of behaviour management policies and strategies to create a purposeful learning environment.
- Completion of appropriate SEN training (or willingness to undertake training).
- Experience with hearing or visually impaired students is an advantage; ELSA qualifications are welcome but not essential.
- Competitive salary at LGPS 3, Point 6‑7 (£18,065).
