Role Overview

Philip Morant School and College is a large secondary school in Colchester. We are looking for a Cover Supervisor who will support classes in the absence of a teacher, ensuring good standards of behaviour for learning and that students engage in the work set. The role requires a commitment to our vision and values, and to support staff and students in a calm and orderly environment.

Working

Hours
  • 31.25 hours per week, 8:05am – 3:05pm Monday to Friday (including a 45‑minute unpaid break).
  • 39-week per year, including term time and non‑pupil days.
Responsibilities
  • Supervising whole classes.
  • Leaving accurate reports for teachers on work completed and student engagement.
  • Providing consistency for longer‑term absences of staff members when required.
  • Providing supervision to small groups of students.
  • Supporting whole‑school provision through trips and activities.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Good reading, writing and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to exchange verbal information clearly and sensitively with children and adults.
  • Initiative and ability to work without direct supervision, taking responsibility for tasks.
  • Understanding of and ability to implement the school's behaviour for learning policy.
