Secondary School - Head of English
Monday - Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm
Pay: MPS/UPS + TLR (depending on experience)

We are working with a well-regarded Secondary School in Romford, rated GOOD by Ofsted, that is seeking an inspirational and dedicated Head of English with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). The school is committed to delivering an exceptional English curriculum, fostering a love of reading and literature, and ensuring students achieve excellent outcomes across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Job Overview:- This school caters for students aged 11-16.
- Full-time, Monday - Friday, Head of English.
- Lead and manage the English department, promoting high-quality teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4.
- Inspire, support and develop members of the English team through effective leadership, coaching and collaboration.
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated English lessons that develop students' reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills.
- Monitor student progress and departmental performance, implementing strategies to raise attainment and close achievement gaps.
- Oversee curriculum planning, assessment and intervention programmes to ensure excellent outcomes.
- Create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.
- Work closely with senior leaders to contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and enrichment opportunities.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A degree in English or a related subject.
- Experience teaching English across KS3 and KS4, with leadership experience or the ambition and capability to step into a middle leadership role.
- A proven ability to motivate, inspire and lead both students and colleagues.
- Excellent classroom management, organisational and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment and strategies to improve outcomes.
- A proactive, collaborative and positive approach to leadership and teaching.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
