SEN Teacher Jobs in Colchester | SEMH Education Opportunity

Luma Education Recruitment is seeking an experienced SEN / SEMH Teacher to join a nurturing and supportive specialist education setting in Colchester.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher who enjoys working in a smaller, more personalised environment where you can build strong relationships with pupils and make a meaningful difference to their educational journey.

The setting supports children and young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, providing a calm, structured and supportive learning environment. With very small class sizes (maximum four pupils), teachers can focus on individual progress, engagement and confidence-building.

The successful candidate will deliver a broad curriculum, including core subjects such as English, Maths and Science, adapting lessons to meet individual learning needs and helping pupils work towards their personal and academic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
  • Teach across a range of subjects, including English, Maths and Science where appropriate
  • Create a calm, structured and nurturing classroom environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, supporting their academic, social and emotional development
  • Work closely with support staff and the wider team to provide consistent support
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning profiles and needs
  • Support pupils who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education
  • Competitive permanent salary of £34,000–£44,000 (DOE)
  • Small class sizes allowing greater focus on pupil progress
  • A supportive and nurturing working environment
  • Opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people's lives
  • Strong support from experienced education and residential teams
  • Flexible opportunities available, including supply options
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your application journey
