Department

The School of Health and Social Care has an excellent reputation for teaching and research. Our academic members of staff include currently include occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychological therapists, nurses, social workers, oral health practitioners and sociologists.

We work closely with health and care stakeholders to deliver excellence in education and collaborative research with an aim to improve health and care delivery on a regional, national and international level.

Duties of the role

The purpose of this lecturer post will be primarily to deliver teaching and support to registrants who are undertaking the Supplementary Prescribing module. You will complement an existing team in the development and delivery of innovative education for post registration health and care staff based at the Colchester campus.

For this Grade 9 ASE post, you are expected to engage in individual and/or collaborative scholarship and professional practice activity which contributes to substantive teaching and learning support roles in the School. You will be encouraged to explore research opportunities and to develop these accordingly. In addition, you will contribute to the administration of the school.

Qualifications and skills required

The successful candidate will hold a master’s level degree in Pharmacology or a related field or equivalent professional experience or practice. You will have fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate combined with registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPC). It is essential that candidates have a commitment to uphold the expectations of the GPC and to exhibit professional behaviours and attitudes in keeping with NHS values.

In addition, you will have experience in health care and the ability to keep up to date with the current practice of supplementary prescribing, teaching and legislation. This is a fixed-term, part-time (0.4 FTE) appointment for two years due to a temporary funding source.
