Test Engineer

Position: Test Engineer (Permanent)
Test Engineer | Colchester | up to £34,000 | 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays

I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Test Engineer to join a well-established and highly respected engineering business based in Colchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Test Engineer who enjoys fault finding, structured testing, and working closely with production and R&D teams in a busy manufacturing environment.

The Role

As a Test Engineer, you will be responsible for validating, verifying, and recording test data across a wide range of PCBAs, embedded systems, and finished products.

Key responsibilities include:

Executing formal test procedures to ensure products meet specification
Component-level fault finding, diagnosis, and repair
Producing detailed fault reports to support continuous improvement
Maintaining accurate test records in line with ISO 9001
Creating and operating ATE programs
Supporting new product introduction and defining production test requirements
Working closely with R&D, production, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve build quality

This is a varied and technical role where you will develop a deep understanding of the company's products and systems while contributing directly to quality and performance improvements.

What We're Looking For

HNC, HND, ONC or equivalent in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or related discipline)
Experience in test within a manufacturing or R&D environment
Strong experience with test methodologies, diagnostic tools, and automated test equipment
RF and microwave testing experience desirable
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IPC standards
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
