With increasing workload,we’relooking for an experienced Civil Engineer specialising inresidential projects tobecome a key member of our design teamat our Colchester office.
In this role,you’llbe responsible for designing and implementing forward-thinking infrastructure solutions while ensuring compliance withindustrystandards and environmental best practices. Yourexpertisewill be vital in driving projects that prioritise innovation, safety, and sustainable infrastructure development.
MainDuties & Responsibilities:
- Guide and support junior members of the team.
- Preparation of compliant surface water and sustainable urban drainage strategy reports to support planning applications.
- Assist with and prepare technical specifications and reports and technical designs
- Provide accurate, detailed, and to scale drawings
- Liaise with local authorities, architects, engineers, and designers to understand their design requirements
- Ensuring that the requirements of all relevant Authorities and Statutory bodies are incorporated into designs, as appropriate
- Ensure drawings are compliant with industry and health and safety standards and protocols
- Conduct site visits and surveys when required
- Present drawings for use in all stages of the project i.e. tender,construction and as-built
- Undertake Private Drainage and External Works detailed designs
- Produce S38 / S278, S104 / S106 / S185 submissions
- Complying with relevant Health & Safety legislation, particularly the CDM Regulations and adopting a pro-active risk management / mitigation approach
Skills:
- Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to create and read technical drawings
- IT skills andproficiencyin the use of AutoCAD, Civils 3D,Site3
Dand Hydraulicmodelling - Experience in producing S38 / S278, S104 / S106 / S185 submissions
- Client and local authority liaison experience
- High levelof technical awareness on highways and drainage
- Excellent communication and prioritisation skills to ensure the achievement of various deadlines
- Able to work within a team
- Organisation and time management to complete work to project deadlines
- A flexible approach to decision making, to make changes to drawings at short notice
- Excellent numeracy / general mathematics understanding is essential
- Problem-solving, creativity, and innovation tocome up with solutions to design problems
- Knowledge and understanding of UK codes of practice, design standards, building regulations, and health and safety
- HNDorBEngin Civil Engineering
- 5 years minimum experience
- Hold a valid UK driving license
