Finance Officer School

We are currently seeking a highly organised-di/ and experienced Finance Officer to join a vibrant secondary school in Colchester. This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to play a crucial role in the schools financial management and administrative operations. The school is looking for a dedicated Finance Officer to manage the day-to-day financial activities of the school. You will be a key member of the administrative team ensuring financial compliance and providing support to the wider school community. Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing the schools finances including processing invoices, handling payments and reconciling bank statements.
• Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing reports for the senior leadership team and governors.
• Assisting with budget management and financial forecasting to ensure the schools long-term stability.
• Handling all financial transactions related to school trips, events and a variety of school activities.
• Liaising with suppliers, parents and staff regarding financial queries and transactions.

The ideal candidate will have experience using school-specific financial software such as SIMS FMS
, IRIS Financials
, Sage for Education or Access Education Finance
.

To be considered for this role you should have:

• Proven experience working in a finance or accounting role preferably within a school or public sector environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial software and systems and an excellent understanding of accounting principles.
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships.
• A proactive and flexible approach to work and the ability to manage a busy workload.

The salary for this position is competitive and will be based on mű schools support staff pay scale commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
