The RoleReporting into the Group Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will play a key role preparing the monthly management accounts for our largest Business Unit and driving process improvements through our new ERP system. The successful candidate will need a high level of technical proficiency and analytical skills.
This role is open to hybrid working, based from our Colchester, Essex office or our office in Theale, Reading.
What will I be delivering?The role of the Management Accountant combines accounting and analytical skills; therefore, responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Prepare periodic financial statements, including profit and loss and balance sheet accounts
- Monitor and control costs, ensuring expenditures align with department and project budgets
- Prepare variance analysis and commentaries, in support of various stakeholders in the business unit
- Support on the annual audit
- Monitor and evaluate financial information systems and suggest improvements where needed
- Ad hoc reporting to support the finance business partner
- Strong financial acumen
- Not afraid to get involved in transactional detail
- Previous experience of using Business Central (desirable)
- Experience of project accounting (desirable)
- Part qualified or fully qualified with a professional accountancy qualification
- High level of numeracy
- Excellent excel skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- DBS compliant
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels including non-finance employees
- A lively and enquiring mind with a logical approach to work, combined with analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
