Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Allied Health Professional (AHP) to take up the role of AHP Lead and Clinical Manager (Band 8a) within our Community Mental Health Services service North East and West Essex.

This senior leadership position provides professional leadership, operational management, and strategic development of AHP services across designated localities and teams. The role ensures high clinical standards, equitable service delivery, and effective workforce development, while contributing to modernised models of care aligned with Trust values:

You will work closely with Directors, Service Leads, AHP Professional Leads, and Team Managers to coordinate high-quality, patient-centred AHP services across community pathways.

This post provides leadership across the North East and West Essex Care Groups and therefore requires a flexible presence across both areas. The formal base may be negotiated as either Severalls House, Colchester or St Margaret's Hospital, Epping; however, the post holder will be expected to travel routinely between sites to ensure equitable service delivery, professional visibility, and effective operational oversight.

  • Coordinate and manage AHP services including recruitment, appraisal, supervision, performance, and CPD planning.
  • Provide strong and visible professional leadership to AHP staff across teams and localities.
  • Ensure equitable, high-quality service delivery across all areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain compliance with statutory requirements including Health & Safety, Risk Management.
  • Lead the implementation and development of AHP practice models and contribute to the delivery of modernised treatment pathways.
  • Manage financial and physical resources associated with AHP clinical delivery.
  • Lead quality improvement, service evaluation, audit, and clinical governance processes.
  • Promote effective multidisciplinary working and positive partnership relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert professional advice and represent AHP services at Trust and external forums.
