We are recruiting a dynamic Service Manager to lead the Service Department at a busy Essex branch. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, customer-focused professional who combines strong technical understanding with proven leadership capability.

As Service Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy Service Department covering machinery repairs. You'll act as the vital link between management, customers, and technicians, ensuring communication is clear, service standards remain high, and the department operates efficiently and profitably.

This is a leadership role where your ability to organise, motivate and inspire your team will directly impact customer satisfaction and business performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Service Department to ensure efficient workflow
  • Lead, mentor and supervise a team of service technicians
  • Plan and allocate work to maximise productivity and turnaround times
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships
  • Professionally manage enquiries, issues and complaints
  • Monitor departmental performance, including profit and loss reporting
  • Ensure all work meets company procedures and manufacturer guidelines
  • Handle staff matters confidently, fairly and in line with company policies
  • Maintain accurate service records and administrative processes

The ideal applicant will possess:

  • Strong knowledge of agricultural and/or horticultural machinery (highly advantageous)
  • Previous supervisory or management experience within a service environment
  • Understanding of profit & loss management and departmental reporting
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Highly organised, able to prioritise and multitask effectively
  • Confident managing people and handling sensitive matters with discretion
  • Proactive, structured and solutions-focused mindset
  • Ability to manage customer expectations professionally
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
  • Professional appearance and good general level of fitness
