Location:
Colchester
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per annum
An established and growing manufacturer of construction products is seeking an experienced Works Manager to lead its production operation in Colchester. This is a hands-on management role, ideal for someone with experience in heavy manufacturing, construction materials, concrete, aggregates, quarrying, precast, asphalt, recycling or other industrial production environments.
You will be responsible for managing a team of around 15 production staff, ensuring efficient manufacturing, maintaining quality standards and driving continuous improvement across the site.
Duties
Lead and manage a team of 15 production operatives
Oversee day-to-day manufacturing and production activities
Plan and coordinate daily, weekly and monthly production schedules
Drive productivity improvements and reduce waste
Monitor quality, output and production performance
Implement and maintain company procedures and policies
Train, coach and develop production staff
Ensure Health & Safety and environmental standards are met
Investigate and resolve production issues
Ensure products are prepared correctly for dispatch
Oversee vehicle loading and on-time deliveries Requirements
Previous experience as a Works Manager, Production Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Factory Manager or Operations Manager
Background within heavy manufacturing or construction product manufacturing
Proven people management and leadership experience
Strong understanding of production planning and continuous improvement
Health & Safety knowledge (IOSH qualification desirable)
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Hands-on approach with the ability to lead by exampleBenefits

Monday to Friday, day shift (typically 6am-2pm, flexibility required)
