We are seeking an exceptional and visionary Nurse Consultant to lead and transform care for older people within our Frailty Assessment Unit (FAU) and wider Urgent & Emergency Care (UEC) pathway. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced advanced practitioner to combine expert clinical practice, strategic leadership, education, and service development to influence frailty care across the system, supporting admission avoidance, improving outcomes, and delivering truly integrated care.
We are looking for a full‑time and part‑time Nurse Consultant to cover a 7‑day service.
Main duties- Act as an expert clinical practitioner demonstrating advanced clinical skills and knowledge including evidence of critical thinking and implementation of research‑based practice within the management of own caseload.
- Work in close relationship with different Consultant bodies for professional guidance.
- Demonstrate clinical leadership, skills and knowledge in developing a comprehensive Nurse‑Led Model of Care, incorporating clinical competency, trust‑wide and patient care pathways.
- Be responsible for developing and leading on nursing and advanced care practice standards, underpinning a robust governance structure for a future workforce of advanced practitioners within the ward.
- Current registration on part 1 of the NMC Register is essential.
- Master's degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.
- Non‑Medical Prescribing.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Completion of Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Level 2 training.
- Mental Capacity Act awareness training.
- Recognised professional post‑basic qualification in the care of older people or dementia care.
- Recently and actively working in clinical practice.
- Demonstrates specialist knowledge relating to care of older people.
- Evidence of admission avoidance and community working.
- Evidence of leadership skills that are capable of establishing direction and purpose.
- Evidence of carrying out investigations and writing reports; evidence of operating at strategic level to positively affect service outcomes.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary£66,582 to £77,368 a year per annum pro rata.
