Senior Scientist – Supplements and Feeds

LGC ASSURE Sports & Specialised Analytical Services is a world‑class testing laboratory specialised in banned substances and anti‑doping testing. Based in Fordham, Cambridgeshire
, the role reports to the Supplements and Feeds team.

• Develop, optimise and validate analytical methods for detecting prohibited substances in human nutritional supplements and animal feed matrices.
• Familiarise with routine screening procedures and sample extractions (SPE and LLE), and troubleshoot issues on GC‑MS/MS, LC‑MS/MS and LC‑HRAM‑MS instruments.
• Become an expert user of high‑spec analytical instrumentation and enhance methods as required.
• Interpret and report complex analytical data with scientific rigor.
• Present scientific findings to senior management, providing recommendations.
• Train and mentor junior scientists, improving team skill levels.
• Assess and implement new technologies; perform method transfer/validation.
• Drive Right‑First‑Time initiatives and continuous improvement.

• BSc in Chemistry (or equivalent) with commercial laboratory experience.
• Strong chromatographic skills in LC‑MS and/or GC‑MS.
• Experience with high‑resolution accurate mass (HRAM) is desirable.
• Knowledge of common extraction techniques (SPE, LLE).
• Track record of leading method development projects.
• Comprehensive understanding of ISO 17025 requirements applied to validation.
• Solid method development principles and troubleshooting abilities.
• Capacity to work independently and in cross‑functional teams.
• Strong training, team‑work, planning, and detail‑oriented skills.
