Security Officer

Retail Security Officer – Colchester/Clacton. Weekend only. £12.71 per hour. Must have DS Licence. Own transport is an advantage.

Protect our customers’ property, people and assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the site’s Assignment Instructions and any subsequent changes. Deliver results that meet or exceed the Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements, ensuring full responsibility and accountability to support contract retention. Undertake additional training for continuous self‑development.

• Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law.
• Complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions.
• Review the Assignment Instructions regularly and suggest amendments that improve or enhance service levels.
• Wear the required front‑line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision and the CCTV PSS SIA Licence at all times. Renew licences 16 weeks before expiry.
• Comply with all legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
• Follow instructions and procedures appropriately, without unnecessarily challenging authority.
• Work in a systematic, methodological and orderly manner.

• Complete all required competency training satisfactorily.
• Take additional training as directed by the Security Account Manager for continuous self‑development.
• Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge through continual professional development.

• Identify and immediately report any Health & Safety hazards or potential hazards on site.
• Stay alert to threats or changes within the work environment to reduce the risk of disruption, loss or damage.
• Exercise common sense and initiative by involving others if a situation appears threatening.
• Maintain professional conduct when dealing with difficult situations or challenging customers.
• Complete accurate, detailed notebook entries promptly after incidents for the Incident Report process.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to the client and Mitie.
• Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions.
• Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.

• Previous security experience.
• Valid SIA licence.
• SC clearance desirable.
