Main purpose of job:

The purpose of this role is to ensure the planning team fulfil all requested transport orders, maintain fleet efficiency through optimal routing, fulfil customer orders in full and on time, and complete all administrative tasks efficiently.

Relationships:

a) Responsible to: Commercial Transport manager & Transport managers

b) Responsible for: Planners

c) Liaison with:
Directors, Managers, Clients, other departments

Main tasks of job:

· Route Optimisation – ensure the planning team fully optimize fleet utilization across all allocated fleets, maximizing productivity & minimizing empty mileage, ensure all opportunities for back loading are scrutinized & realized.

· Promote enthusiasm within the team & encourage team members to achieve the KPI’s set for the department.

· Communicate respectfully with all team members, employees, and customers.

  • § Weekend, overtime & Ad Hoc requests for resource.

· Provide constructive driver performance data & detail to the transport management team.

· Communicate with the Sales team to determine & deliver customer requirements on time in full, facilitating an exceptional customer service level.

· Build productive relationships with customers & external stakeholders.

• Monitor driver & vehicle progress throughout the day and make decisions on re-routing accordingly

· Liaise with Accounts, minimize, investigate & resolve ticket queries quickly, challenge rate discrepancies, ensure all chargeable rates are accurately recorded, communicated & authorized.

· Ensure team member holidays are planned efficiently and cover provided where required.

· Driver optimization – ensure driver shortages/absences are reported, work closely with Transport management team to minimize vehicle off road time.

· Attendance at weekly team & management meetings as required.

· Deliver toolbox talks & briefings to team members.

· Communicate routing decisions to drivers including all necessary and accurate delivery information, names, addresses, phone numbers, etc., utilize dynamic problem solving, addressing routing issues as they arise, communicating clearly with drivers and customers at all times.

· Control & monitor sub-contractor use in line with departmental KPI’s set, communicate with sub-contractors & haulage partners.

· Process departmental documentation & complete record keeping accurately.

· Challenge current practices to identify and deliver value improvements and solutions through a continuous improvement mind set.

· Develop strong working relationships with all managers, team members, workshop & drivers.

· Personally evaluate risk and make contingency plans accordingly to ensure continuance of service to customers.

· Lead by example, displaying energy and commitment to the achievement of results.

· Consider others when making decisions.

· Share learning outcomes with others across the company and willingly adopt best practice.

· Act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices highlighting any issues appropriately, align with the company vision 2030 standard.

· Work closely with the transport management & workshop teams to ensure fleet legal compliance is maintained & scheduled vehicle maintenance is planned & carried out in line with instruction.

· Fully trained in the quarry minder system, provide training to team members as required.

· Routing of fleet vehicles as required.

· To perform other duties as directed by SRC Management.

Hours of work - Mon to Friday - 50 hrs pw - Competitive Salary dependant upon skills and experience
