Location:
Doncaster Hourly rate: £20.68 per hour Length of role :
Initial 3 months We are seeking a Transport Planner to play a pivotal role in the delivery of the transportation function within the authority. This position involves developing and reviewing national, regional, sub-regional, and local transportation strategies, policies, and programmes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transport planning and the ability to effectively represent the Strategic Transportation function at planning committees.
Day-to-day of the role:
Develop and deliver appropriate transport strategies. Provide advice on transport standards to relevant partners and stakeholders. Represent the authority at regional and national meetings and forums, ensuring that the council has an input in steering policy, strategy, and programmes. Manage the consultation process on planning applications. Contribute to maintaining and improving existing partnerships within the council and with partners to address transportation issues.
Support the management of the capital and revenue budgets for relevant programmes, ensuring effective forward planning and budget monitoring. Manage, monitor, and review the quality and performance of suppliers and contractors delivering transportation services. Maintain a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant transport policy. Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Degree in Planning, Transport, or a related subject. Detailed knowledge and understanding of transport policy, planning processes, highways design standards, existing and emerging legislation, and policies relevant to the service area. Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills with the ability to reconcile conflicting issues. Experience in undertaking work across a range of specialist activities to successfully deliver transportation projects. Understanding of project management techniques.
Proven track record in preparing complex reports and attending cabinet & regulatory boards in support of senior officers. Ability to act as the representative of the council in meetings with developers, members of the public, and other stakeholders. Experience in implementing projects in accordance with policy, design standards, and financial parameters.
