OverviewThe Finance Coordinator reports to the Field Office Director (FOD) in Colchester, Vermont. The role requires 2‑3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a not‑for‑profit organization, and is essential for sound budgeting, financial management, and accounting in support of field programs. The Finance Coordinator will provide monthly profit‑and‑loss statements, program‑level financial reports, annual budgets, grant oversight, and financial assistance to program managers and staff.
Responsibilities- Manage all phases of general accounting: compile, post, analyze, and balance financial transactions and work with the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and process payments to clients and vendors, including corporate credit card usage, ACH payments, checks, and rapid‑card payments.
- Assist with budget tracking, monthly and quarterly financial reporting, invoicing, and audit support.
- Track and report monetary donations, direct refugee assistance expenses for all federal, state, and local programs, and other grant financials.
- Prepare monthly profit and loss statements for the FOD and support the FOD in developing annual office and program budgets.
- Provide monthly spending reports to program managers, including budget status, accrued costs, and remaining forecasts.
- Hold twice‑weekly office hours to demystify financial management processes for all USCRI staff.
- Interpret and apply financial rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure consistent compliance with headquarters guidance.
- Participate in monthly reviews of financial statements with HQ and Field Office Director.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2‑3 years of accounting work experience, preferably in a non‑profit sector.
- Excellent analytical skills and thorough knowledge of general accounting principles, budgets, and contract management.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and accounting software.
- Strong administrative skills; attention to detail and accuracy are essential.
- Ability to multi‑task, work independently, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Must pass a criminal background and other screening requirements.
- Demonstrated support for USCRI’s values by exhibiting respect for others, confidentiality, and dedication to human rights.
- Professionalism: evaluate and integrate information quickly, show pride and mastery of English, meet deadlines, and remain calm under stress.

- Satisfactory completion of USCRI’s Orientation and Training.
- Complete additional training as identified by supervisor(s) or Human Resources.
- Manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, sustained visual and mental demands.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, pulling, and carrying.
- Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
