Chief Cardiac Physiologist

We have a development opportunity, ideal for a Band 6 Physiologist who is looking to develop further and move up to a Band 7 post after completing competencies.
This is a part time fixed term role. Internal applicants will undertake this role on a secondment basis.
Working within a very strong and friendly team you will have established Pacing/cath lab experience and be working towards being independent for complex devices. You will be capable of motivating, developing and leading junior staff. You should be an effective communicator and will work closely with the Head of Department. You will work well under pressure prioritising your workload accordingly.
The Cardio-Respiratory department provides a range of invasive procedures including left heart caths/device implant/explant and Cardioversions. Transoesophageal echo. Non-invasive services include Echo, Dobutamine stress echo, Stress echo (Bike). Exercise tests. Tape fitting and analysis and ECGs. The trust also runs CT angio.
You should possess a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent and be RCCP registered (or have relevant extensive experience).

Main duties of the job- Be solely responsible for running the physiologist part of the cath lab to include haemodynamic monitoring when patients are undergoing left, right and left heart catheterisation, valve studies and grafts studies.
- Accurately record blood saturations to enable a cardiac output to be calculated.
- Monitor and assist with pacemaker and loop recorder implants and advise doctor of any adverse conditions.
- Run satellite clinics independently in Clacton and Harwich.
- Provide an inpatient service for pacemaker and ICD patients.
- Respond quickly to requests for ICD patients to have their devices de‑activated on the wards, the hospice and the patient’s home environment to enable a peaceful death.
- Run the device clinics and implants as efficiently as possible, always making sure there is plenty of stock and paperwork available.
- Develop an electronic implant record using CRM while CVIS is being implemented.

Person Specification Qualifications- oHTEC MPPM
- oASCT RCCP REGISTRATION or equivalent
- oILS Certificate
- oBSc (Hons) MPPM or equivalent
- oWorking towards IBHRE/HRUK accreditation
- oProven experience at Senior Cardiac Physiologist level
- oFull range of non-diagnostic investigations
- oExperienced in all aspects of Cath lab.
- oIndependent in pacemaker satellite clinics and ICD.
- oDevelop systems to promote efficient and effective working within the team
- oUndertake appraisals within Trust guidelines
- oPerform ECGs, fitting of ambulatory monitors.
- oAdvanced knowledge of Holter Analysis
- oAdvanced knowledge of Exercise Stress testing
- oUnderstanding of the meaning of confidentiality and the requirement for this to be maintained
- oWorking across multidisciplinary teams and high standards
- oTo cross‑train and provide diagnostic and technical assistance to a multidisciplinary team
- oExperience of audit
- oBasic presentation skills
- oEffective communication skills both written and oral
