Operate locomotives and switching equipment with Railserve in Alberta, supporting safe rail operations through radio communication and teamwork. This full-time outdoor role requires dependable, safety-focused work.
Railserve, part of Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, hires Rail Switching Technicians for industrial facilities. You will assist locomotive operations, move railcars, and transfer liquid products. Paid training supports candidates with or without prior rail experience.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate switches, derails, gates, and trackside equipment
- Control equipment movement using radios, signals, and lanterns
- Couple and uncouple railcars, hoses, and wheel chocks
- Apply and release hand brakes safely
- Support liquid chemical and petroleum transfers
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to handle equipment weighing approximately 50 pounds
