Job Summary

A District Multicultural Liaison provides a bridge between families, students, and school staff. Liaisons must have strong communication, organizational, translating, and interpreting skills. They work collaboratively with district administration, building administration, the Multicultural Liaison team, the EL department, office staff, and other school staff.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
    • Follow district protocol for translating and interpreting services
    • Deliver interpreting and translating services to support district LEP needs
    • Work collaboratively with the K-12 Team
    • Act as the District-Wide EL Liaison to the community
    • Serve as an interpreter for district-sanctioned meetings
    • Assign additional interpreters for district-sanctioned meetings when necessary
    • See district employee list of interpreters
    • Assist in home visits when needed
    • Assist in proctoring and disseminating WIDA ACCESS assessments and W‑APT screenings
    • Assist with MDE EL Student reporting
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the English Proficiency Standards for English Learners, Minnesota State Standards, and how they align with district curriculum
    • Work within the RtI differentiated instructional — tiered model for K-12 students that qualify for EL services
    • Work collaboratively with the K‑12 EL Team
    • Assist in organizing appropriate resource allocations to meet the needs of individual students within the EL program
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel in a diverse environment
  • Required to be bilingual in English and a second language, including multiple dialects, with fluency in reading, writing, listening and speaking in both languages
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate information from a student IEP orally and in writing
  • Ability to provide assistance and support to students and their families to promote school success
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments independently and maintain high performance standards and consistent follow‑through
  • Ability to adhere to district policies and protocols regarding confidentiality and data privacy
  • Effective interpersonal skills to communicate with school staff and students
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Pay Range

The pay range for this position is $19.97 to $25.00. Benefit packages include health insurance, 403(b) retirement, and paid time off.
