Job Overview

ROCORI Schools has an opening for their Head Football Coach position. ROCORI Football has a strong tradition of excellence on and off the field. The support staff is dedicated to working with a head coach who demonstrates leadership, commitment, and a vision for success. There may be potential teaching positions available in the Spring as normal departures, retirements, and transfers occur.

Qualifications
  • Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
  • Has previous successful varsity coaching experience in Football.
  • Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continually examine new theories and procedures.
  • Must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
  • Reporting & Supervision

    Reports to:

    The Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation in conjunction with the high school principals.

    Supplies supervision to:
    High school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the Athletic Director and respective principal.

    Job Goal

    To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The coach must also instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. The coach should upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.

    General
  • The success of athletic programs strongly influences the community’s image. Public exposure is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning performance is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship and mental health.
  • The position includes aspects such as extended time, risk of injury, and due process predicaments.
  • This job description provides sufficient guidance; in cases not covered, it is assumed that a coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment.
  • Duties and Responsibilities
  • Has thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the ROCORI Schools’ Board of Education and is responsible for their implementation by the entire sports program staff.
  • Has knowledge of existing system, state and league regulations; implements them consistently and interprets them for staff.
  • Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers all requests or grievances through proper channels. Is aware of all required meetings.
  • Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness.
  • Trains and informs staff, encouraging professional growth by promoting clinic attendance according to local policy.
  • Delegates duties, supervises implementation, and at season’s end analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates assistants.
  • Maintains discipline, adjusts grievances, and increases morale and cooperation.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by the athletic director or principal.
  • Assists the athletic director in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournament and special sport events.
  • Prepares for scheduled sport events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times. Coordinates program with maintenance and school employees.
  • Provides documentation to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
  • Provides safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.
  • Advises the athletic director and recommends policy, method, or procedural changes.
  • Serves as a mentor to each athlete promoting character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
