Overview

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third‑party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, we operate 17 plants across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, converting aluminum scrap and by‑products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross while reducing residual waste that would otherwise end up in landfills.

Responsibilities

As our new Mechanical Project Engineer, you will use your project‑management knowledge to plan and implement key capital projects, drive technology improvements, and provide engineering solutions that enhance productivity and operations within the business unit.

  • Project Engineering/Project Management 60%, Plant Support 20%, Mechanical Systems Design 20%.

Mechanical Project Engineers effectively communicate project expectations to team members, contractors, and stakeholders, building partnerships with plant personnel through capital‑project implementation. Heavy industrial or manufacturing experience is strongly preferred.

Our ideal candidate will service the main location in Coldwater, Michigan, provide support to other regional locations, and travel up to 30% of the time, including Chicago Heights and the Canadian facility in Mississauga, Ontario. International travel is a plus.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a related engineering field is required.
  • 2+ years of related industrial experience, including planning, specification, and implementation of engineering‑design projects beyond school projects.
  • Strong technical and process‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Decision‑making and problem‑solving skills that demonstrate practical judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
  • Six Sigma or PMP certification is a plus.
  • Preferred software:
    Inventor, AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of structural design and federal regulations and standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of aluminum processes is a plus.
