Speech Language Therapist – Insight Hospital and Medical Center, Coldwater, MI – Full‑time
Job SummaryDevelops and administers speech‑language treatment programs to assist patients with communication, cognitive‑linguistic, and swallowing disorders in reaching their optimal level of function and independence. Works collaboratively with patients, family members, and other team members to design treatment strategies to foster communication and function.
Duties- Perform communication, cognitive‑linguistic, and swallowing evaluations within the established time frame, selecting, administering and interpreting standardized and non‑standardized assessments using age‑specific criteria for each age population served.
- Collaborate with patients/families to establish and provide appropriate treatment plans and goals, adapting plans as needed to meet patient needs and taking into account age and educational level.
- Maintain patient care records according to department protocols.
- Demonstrate knowledge and ability to advocate, communicate, and educate patients of all age groups, including those with physical, emotional, language, and cognitive impairments.
- Consistently conduct oneself in a professional manner, participate in continuing education activities, and share information with staff.
- May assist in supervision of students, CFY’s, and volunteers.
- Maintain productivity as established by the department.
- May participate in program development, identifying performance‑improvement opportunities, and implementing performance‑improvement plans.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Education

Master’s Degree in Speech‑Language Pathology
Skills
:
Must possess skills consistent with the needs of the department.

License
:
Licensed in the State of Michigan to practice Speech‑Language Pathology
Certification
: CPR certification according to hospital policy.
Preferred Qualifications
:
Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association
The majority of time spent sitting, standing, and performing patient‑care treatments. Must possess physical ability and condition to walk through clinic or hospital and handle patients correctly and safely. Able to handle standard equipment that is in a speech therapy department.
