** This position will involve assignments at various locations as determined by business needs. Candidates must be willing and able to travel to different sites as required. Travel may include local or regional assignments, with applicable travel expenses reimbursed in accordance with company policy.

Job Summary

We are seeking skilled and dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide coverage to our Michigan locations. In this role, you will provide advanced nursing care for patients requiring continuous monitoring, life-support interventions, and complex clinical management. This role operates within the full scope of RN practice as defined by the Michigan Board of Nursing and healthcare accreditation standards.

Job Duties:
  • Engage patients and families as active partners in care decisions, addressing their values, preferences, and educational needs.
  • Provide compassionate, dignified, and respectful care to patients facing life-threatening conditions.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and respond rapidly to changes in patient status, including hemodynamic instability, respiratory failure, and neurological compromise.
  • Interpret diagnostic data (such as lab results, imaging, and monitoring outputs) to guide clinical decision-making.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized critical care plans in collaboration with intensivists, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide specialized interventions such as ventilator management, titration of vasoactive medications, and care for patients with central lines, chest tubes, and advanced monitoring systems.
  • Administer high-risk medications, including vasopressors, sedatives, and paralytics, following hospital protocols and patient safety standards.
  • Manage life-sustaining therapies, including mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) interventions.
  • Identify and address safety risks, adverse events, and clinical deterioration promptly.
  • Apply evidence-based practices to reduce complications such as ventilator-associated events, pressure injuries, and hospital-acquired infections.
  • Utilize electronic health records (EHR) and advanced monitoring technologies to document and manage patient care accurately and in real time.
  • Maintain confidentiality and data security in compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other team members to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide clear, timely communication during handoffs, rounds, and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Mentor and support less experienced staff, fostering teamwork and shared learning.
  • Demonstrate accountability for delivering high-quality, evidence-based critical care.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and participate in unit-based performance improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, bedside shift reports, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Contribute to system-wide efforts to improve ICU operations, patient throughput, and quality metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support critical care operations and patient care delivery.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrates eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Education:

    The RN in Michigan must complete twenty-five contact hours of continuing education during his/her licensure period. At least 2 hours of contact hours must be related to pain and pain symptom management. At least 1 hour of contact hours must be related to implicit bias training. BSN (preferred)
