Contracted Coverage | Full-Time, Days or Nights.

Note: This is a coverage role with assignments at multiple sites as needed. Travel may be required; local or regional travel may be reimbursed per company policy.

Base pay range

$31.00/hr - $51.00/hr

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses (ED RNs) to provide coverage to our Michigan locations. The RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate emergency nursing care for patients with a broad spectrum of medical conditions. The role requires delivery of specialized nursing care using clinical judgment and advanced skills, within the full scope of RN practice as defined by the Michigan Board of Nursing and applicable healthcare accreditation standards.

Responsibilities (Job Duties)
  • Partner with patients and families to understand values, preferences, and needs to deliver respectful, compassionate, and coordinated care.
  • Provide timely patient education and discharge planning to promote self-care and continuity of care across settings.
  • Perform rapid assessments, prioritize care, and initiate treatment for acute illness, injury, or life-threatening conditions.
  • Apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in emergent situations (e.g., cardiac arrest, trauma, stroke, sepsis).
  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized care plans based on findings and patient goals.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Safely administer medications, IV therapies, and emergency interventions per laws and policies.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks, near misses, and adverse events.
  • Use evidence-based practices and error-prevention techniques to promote safety.
  • Utilize EHR and decision support tools to document care accurately.
  • Maintain patient privacy and data security per HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Mentor other nursing staff and support personnel; escalate concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Participate in performance improvement, unit meetings, and training activities.
  • Collaborate to ensure effective care delivery across units and settings.
  • Engage in bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and hourly rounding to promote communication, safety, and patient satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support hospital operations and emergency preparedness.
Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan; ability to work in the U.S. as eligible.
  • BSN preferred; required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS; TNCC and ENPC certificates or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
  • Twenty-five hours of continuing education during licensure period; at least 2 hours on pain management and 1 hour on implicit bias training.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; proficiency with EHR systems and healthcare technologies.
  • Ability to respond effectively to critical patient care situations.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift up to 50 pounds; may lift up to 150 pounds with assistance; push/pull up to 150-300 pounds with assistance.
  • Medium-demand work with standing/walking during shifts; visual and auditory acuity required.
  • Manual dexterity for handling equipment and needles; ability to work in varied environments; exposure to potential hazards and infection control considerations.
  • Irregular or extended hours as needed by schedule.
