Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing care provided to a group of patients. This nurse leads the nursing team in care as directed by the attending physician and in collaboration with other health care providers in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Insight. Actively participates in creating an environment that fosters patient, family, physician, and employee satisfaction.

Ensures decisions are based on patient- and family-centered care philosophy utilizing evidenced-based practices, and focused on safety, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.

  • Wound - 1 Position (PT - Days)
  • CCU - 2 Positions (FT - Nights)
  • Acute Care - 1 Position (FT - Days)
Scope of Service

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to individuals and groups requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill derived from biological, physical, behavioral, social, spiritual/cultural, and nursing sciences. The RN functions within the full scope of nursing practice as noted by the state Board of Nursing for the practicing state, in addition to compliance with hospital accrediting bodies.

Accountabilities
  • Patient & Family Centered Care: partner with patients and families, respect preferences, values, and needs; communicate patient values and education needs; promote health, safety and self-care management.
  • Nursing Practice: assess, formulate nursing diagnoses, plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care plans; prioritize problems; apply critical thinking.
  • Safety and Quality Improvement: minimize risk, administer medications as licensed, use quality measures and data, apply technology to support safety and quality; participate in unit-based quality improvement and evidence-based practice projects; report safety concerns and events.
  • Informatics & Technology: use electronic health records to document status, interventions, outcomes; respond to decision-support alerts; protect patient privacy.
  • Communication, Teamwork &

    Collaboration:

    coordinate care with the healthcare team; maintain integrity and respect for diversity; delegate appropriately; escalate barriers using the chain of command.
  • Leadership & Professionalism: uphold nursing process, demonstrate leadership, participate in teams to improve patient care and work environment; supervise ancillary staff as needed.
  • Systems-Based Practice: plan and deliver care in context of the work unit; rounds with providers; bedside report/hand-offs; ensure meaningful hourly rounding; escalate concerns to maintain safety, quality and patient satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

Education:

Michigan RN License

Skills:

  • Complies with nursing process
  • Respond effectively to critical situations involving patients, personnel, and visitors
  • Perform basic nursing skills competently
  • Evaluate own daily practice for errors and pursue corrective action
  • Open to new ideas and changing environment
  • Dependable team member; communicate effectively and empathetically with the healthcare team and patients

  • Navigate and retrieve information from the computer and healthcare record

License:
Current State RN license

Certification:
Current CPR training; specialty certifications as required

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

BSN

Working Conditions

Personal Protective Equipment:
Knowledge and use of standard precautions and PPE; safe patient handling equipment.

Physical Demands:
Ability to tolerate dust, fumes, chemicals, temperature changes, exposure to blood borne pathogens and bodily fluids; ability to move between workstations; prolonged standing; lift/move patients or equipment; occasional stairs, kneeling.
