The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care provided to a group of patients. This nurse leads the nursing team members in the care as directed by the attending physician and in collaboration with other healthcare providers in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Insight. Actively participates in creating an environment that fosters patient, family, physician, and employee satisfaction.
Ensures decisions are based on patient and family-centered care philosophy utilizing evidence-based practices, focusing on safety, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes.
The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to individuals and groups requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill derived from biological, physical, behavioral, social, spiritual/cultural, and nursing sciences. The RN functions within the full scope of nursing practice as defined by the Board of Nursing of their state, complying with hospital accrediting bodies.
Accountabilities- Patient & Family Centered Care: Recognize the patient or designee as the source of control and partner in providing care, respecting patient preferences, values, and needs.
- Evidenced-Based Practice: Integrate current evidence with clinical expertise and patient/family preferences for optimal healthcare delivery.
- Nursing Practice: Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Safety and Quality Improvement: Minimize harm, administer medications, incorporate quality measures, and participate in quality improvement projects.
- Informatics & Technology: Use technology for communication, managing information, and supporting decision-making, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records.
- Communication, Teamwork & Collaboration: Foster effective interactions with patients, families, and healthcare teams, acting as a coordinator of care.
- Leadership & Professionalism: Promote system thinking, communication, and change facilitation, adhering to scope of practice and professional standards.
- Systems-Based Practice: Participate in system-level practices, organize patient care, and ensure safety and satisfaction through appropriate escalation of concerns.
- Michigan RN License
- Current State license as a Registered Nurse
- Current CPR certification; additional specialty certifications as required
- Effective response to critical situations
- Competent basic nursing skills
- Self-evaluation and corrective action
- Effective communication and teamwork
- Professional growth and competency maintenance
- Computer and healthcare record navigation
- BSN degree
- Knowledge and use of PPE and safe handling equipment
- Ability to tolerate exposure to environmental hazards and bodily fluids
- Physical ability to move, lift, and perform prolonged standing and walking
