Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Paint Supervisor.

Reporting into the Production Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Paint Department, supervising a team and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on time and to the required quality standards. The role will also involve organising workloads, supporting production planning and driving high standards across the department.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paint Supervisor or Senior Painter with a background in heavy engineering or manufacturing to take the next step within a well-established production environment.

In your new role:

• Organise and prioritise the daily workload for the Paint team in line with production schedules and delivery deadlines
• Ensure paint work is released, progressed and completed in line with job priorities
• Monitor production schedules and identify potential delays or risks, escalating issues where required
• Ensure job cards, drawings, weld records and production paperwork are completed accurately
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Paint Department
• Ensure preparation, painting and finishing activities are completed in line with specifications and procedures
• Support efficient workflow, minimising downtime and rework
• Monitor consumables and plant within the department and report shortages or issues
• Supervise, motivate and support the Paint team to achieve production targets
• Allocate work based on skills, qualifications and workload capacity
• Support performance management, coaching and development of team members
• Assist with onboarding and training of new employees
• Ensure all paint products meet required quality standards and customer specifications
• Carry out in-process quality checks to reduce defects and rework
• Support investigations into paint defects and quality issues and implement corrective actions
• Work alongside the Quality team to address non-conformances and prevent recurrence
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements and promote safe working practices
• Enforce the correct use of PPE and ensure machinery, cranes and lifting equipment are operated by trained personnel
• Promote hazard and near-miss reporting and support accident investigations where required
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and environmental controls within the Paint Department

What you will need to succeed:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a painting role, ideally working with heavy-duty or heavy engineering products
• At least 2 years' experience supervising or leading a Paint team within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of surface preparation and coating processes
• Solid understanding of quality standards and inspection processes
• Experience with production planning and workflow management
• Proven track record of meeting production targets and deadlines
• Experience working within a fast-paced production or manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret customer specifications
• Strong leadership, organisation and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across production and quality teams
