Ready to take your industrial painting experience to the next level? Lead a skilled team, take ownership of the Paint Department.

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation to appoint an experienced Paint Supervisor to lead their Paint Department.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Industrial Painter, Senior Painter or Paint Supervisor with a background in heavy engineering, fabrication or industrial manufacturing to step into a key leadership position.

You'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Paint Department, leading a skilled team and ensuring painting and finishing activities are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and to a high-quality standard.

The role would suit someone who has strong hands-on experience with industrial paint systems, surface preparation and coating application, and who is now looking to take greater ownership of production, people and quality.

In Your New Role

  • Lead and coordinate the day-to-day activities of the Paint Department
  • Organise and prioritise workloads in line with production schedules and customer deadlines
  • Allocate work across the team based on skills, experience and workload
  • Ensure surface preparation, painting and finishing activities are completed to specification
  • Oversee industrial painting processes and ensure the correct application methods and paint systems are used
  • Monitor jobs through the department and identify potential delays, quality issues or production risks
  • Ensure work is completed correctly first time, minimising defects, rework and downtime
  • Carry out in-process quality checks and ensure finished products meet customer specifications
  • Investigate paint defects and support corrective actions and continuous improvement
  • Work closely with Production and Quality teams to resolve issues and maintain workflow
  • Ensure job cards, drawings, weld records and production paperwork are completed accurately
  • Monitor paint, consumables and equipment requirements and report shortages or issues
  • Supervise, motivate and develop the Paint team
  • Support the onboarding and training of new employees
  • Promote high standards of housekeeping and environmental control
  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety procedures, PPE requirements and safe working practices
  • Promote hazard and near-miss reporting and support investigations where required

What You Will Need to Succeed

  • 5+ years' experience within industrial painting, ideally within heavy engineering, fabrication or manufacturing
  • 2+ years' experience in a supervisory, team lead or senior painting position
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of surface preparation, industrial coatings and paint application
  • Experience working with heavy-duty steel, fabricated components, machinery or similar industrial products
  • Good understanding of paint quality standards, inspection requirements and finishing specifications
  • Experience working to production schedules and customer deadlines
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and technical documentation
  • Experience identifying and resolving paint defects, quality issues and rework
  • Strong understanding of safe working practices within an industrial painting environment
  • Proven ability to lead, organise and motivate a production team
  • Strong communication, planning and problem-solving skills

Why This Role?

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Industrial Painter or Senior Painter who has developed strong technical expertise and is ready to move into a role with greater responsibility for people, production, quality and performance.

You'll be joining an established engineering and manufacturing environment, with the opportunity to take ownership of a key production function and play an important role in delivering high-quality finished products.
