German Teacher, Upper School

This is a full-time position involving teaching high school German classes levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and AP. We are looking to fill this position immediately and for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year.

• Instructing students in subject content along with reading and grading student work
• Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students
• Serving as an adviser to a group of upper school students
• Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
• Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress
• Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to implement common course syllabi and assessments

• Experience with proficiency-based instruction in an immersive environment preferred
• Have a working knowledge and experience teaching high school German
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
• Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google apps, language lab software and interactive whiteboard technology
• A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such
• Strong organizational and classroom management skills

• Undergraduate degree in German or Foreign Language Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in German or education preferred; native or near native fluency in German
• 3+ years of successful teaching high school German preferred
• Independent school experience preferred, but not required

The German Teacher, Upper School position is an exempt, 10-month position.
