AISC Quality Control Manager

Midsouth Steel, a leader in the fabrication and erection of structural steel, has an immediate need for an AISC Quality Control Manager. This is a full-time, direct hire position with a well-established company that has been steadily growing since its inception.

The position will focus on implementing procedural changes in our welding department and overseeing the certification process of our in-house welders.

• Record and maintain welder certification logs
• Review and prepare the company for annual AISC audits
• Ensure compliance with AISC standards
• Maintain and develop PQRs, WPSs, and welder qualifications
• Maintain records for traceability throughout fabrication

• Check quality on the shop floor daily to ensure all products meet contract specifications
• Track in-process repairs, non-conformances, corrective actions, and costs of poor quality
• Create new weld procedures as needed

• Conduct welder qualification testing
• Perform dimensional and visual inspections of fabrication, including final paint, weld preparations, and final welds
• Ensure fabricated materials conform to drawings, standards, specifications, and codes
• Maintain inspection records for quality assurance and production control
• Address drawing discrepancies with the Project Manager
• Track non-conformances
• Report fabrication defects to the foreman
• Assist shop personnel with drawings and specifications interpretation
• Support shop foreman and leads in maintaining quality and production standards
• Verify received materials, parts, and consumables meet quality requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication
• Experience with AISC audits
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
• Experience in team evaluation, building, and maintenance
