Overview
The University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) Math Quantum RTG (Research Training Group) seeks to hire a postdoctoral fellow working at the intersection of mathematics and quantum information science (QIS). This appointment, offered jointly by IPST (the Institute for Physical Science & Technology) and the Department of Mathematics, has both research and teaching components.
ResponsibilitiesResearch: The successful applicant is expected to work independently on research projects related to their own interests, while aligning with the vision of Math Quantum to meaningfully intersect mathematics and QIS.
Teaching: In addition to research activities, the postdoctoral fellow is expected to teach 3 courses per year of tenure in the Department of Mathematics
Qualifications- Fellows must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, as required by the funding agency supporting this program
- Ph.D. degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or statistics obtained by the time in which the fellowship starts
- Demonstrated skills in both research and teaching, evidenced through the application components
