Job Summary
EMCOR Government Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to provide operations and maintenance support for the National Archives Buildings in Washington, DC and College Park, Maryland
. This position requires organizational, supervisory, and communication skills plus the understanding of numerous mechanical and structural systems. The selected candidate will be based out of one site, depending on the selected candidate, but will travel frequently between both facilities. This position reports to the Assistant Program Manager.
- Provide technical support in the efficient and safe operation and maintenance of all mechanical equipment (i.e., boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, BAS, plumbing, etc.).
- Analyze equipment specifications, operating data, and system control procedures to make recommendations for the improved operation of the mechanical systems.
- Use AutoCAD to create new drawings or revise existing drawings.
- Frequently works with the IDIQ Manager/MEP Estimator on IDIQ projects.
- Use planning and estimating software and expertise to develop/bid IDIQ work.
- Project manage IDIQ work.
- Perform engineering quality assurance checks of project designs.
- Energy management and consumption, sustainability considerations.
- Write or revise SOPs for mechanical equipment and systems.
- Select equipment for the replacement or modifications of existing systems.
- Research and propose modifications to improve the operation of the facility.
- Liaise with NARA facilities’ contractors as an EMCOR representative.
- Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from an engineering school with a curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
- Minimum of five (5) years of on‑site experience in the operation and maintenance of a facility of 850k sq feet or more with 24/7/365 central plants operations.
- Experience with HVAC equipment, boilers, chillers, plumbing, electrical, BAS, etc.
- Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD to create new drawings or revise existing drawings.
- Working knowledge of local codes and ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, ANSI, ASME standards.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities, adaptability, time management, teamwork, and a self‑driven approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Must fluently speak, read and write the English language.
- Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
