Overview

The Yale School of Public Health (YSPH) is seeking a part time Admission Reader. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, this individual will be responsible for the review and evaluation of applications based on a variety of factors that determine if an applicant is qualified for admission to YSPH. The reader will provide a written assessment of each applicant and will be called upon to present to the admissions staff about applicants and the reasons for a decision.

Decisions are rendered by multiple readers so the reader will have support and information from admissions staff. The reader should be able to work independently, pay attention to detail, assess components of an application as they relate to admission criteria. This position can be performed remotely and will require 10-15 hours per week. Training will be provided prior to completing reviews and will continue throughout the cycle.

  • Prior experience with the admissions process.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Evaluates all admissions applications, interviews prospective applicants, and independently assesses each application against a variety of factors, including the applicant’s strength, weaknesses and potential contribution to the Yale community. Determines applicant’s standing within local, national and international applicant pools.
  • Presents applicant recommendations to admissions committee. Briefs admissions committee about applicants and about schools and geographical regions as they relate to evaluation of applicant files. Determines which applicants will be waitlisted.
  • Develops public presentations designed to promote Yale to prospective applicants.
  • Advises secondary school counselors, applicants and parents on the application process.
  • Coordinates alumni recruiting activities in assigned geographical areas.
  • Serves as a liaison with organizations and individuals involved in the admissions process.
  • May perform other duties assigned.

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree.
