FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt
Position: 7 hours per day, 190 days per school year (10 months)
Salary: $20.06‑$26.33 per hour (educational incentive available as negotiated)

Qualifications- 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Meet Washington State Para educator Minimum Employment requirements by providing evidence of one of the following:
- Associate degree
- At least 72 quarter or 48 semester credits of 100‑level courses or higher
- Pass the ETS Para‑Pro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher
- Pass the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment with a minimum qualifying score of 220
- Pass the Master Teacher Inc. Para educator Online Training Program with a minimum passing score of 65% on each of the two required assessments (applicant pays applicable fees)
- Background check through Washington State Patrol, as required by RCW 43.43.830
- Completion of Safe Schools Web‑Based Training at hire and annually thereafter
- Effective oral and written communication in English, with correct grammar and spelling
- Ability to learn and apply new skills
- Skills in organization and time management
- Ability to show flexibility and good judgment
- Ability to interact positively and confidentially with individuals from diverse linguistic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to implement educational programs and manage student behavior with direction from certificated staff
- Ability to maintain composure in high‑stress situations involving student aggression, non‑compliance, and other conduct problems
- Willingness to complete training on restraint and/or de‑escalation as required for the position
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with staff, community, and students
- Physical abilities: walk, sit, squat, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, reach, and lift to attend to students’ physical needs; lift up to 40 pounds; carry up to 30 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds regularly
Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish considered helpful; district will verify skill levels.
Roles and Responsibilities- Administer tests, homework assignments, make‑up work, etc., to support certificated staff in the instructional process.
- Assist students individually or in groups with lesson assignments (reading, math activities, etc.) to reinforce learning concepts and help achieve academic goals, including IEP goals.
- Attend functions as assigned (meetings, in‑service presentations, training) to acquire and apply job‑related information; confer with certificated staff for student progress evaluation or objective modification.
- Guide students in independent study (enrichment, remedial, etc.) to ensure student success.
- Under supervision of assigned staff, implement instructional programs and lesson plans provided by certificated staff to improve student academic success through a defined course of study.
- Maintain classroom resources, work area, student files/records (adapt instructional materials, audiovisual equipment, bulletin boards, etc.) to ensure availability and reliability of information.
- Monitor individual or groups of students in various settings (classroom, playground, field trips, library, lunchroom, bus loading/unloading, etc.) to identify required assistance and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
- Perform record‑keeping and clerical functions (copying, correcting papers, completing attendance verifications, recording phone calls, etc.) to support certificated staff and provide necessary records/materials.
