POSITION & BENEFITSJob Title: Bus Driver
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor
Bargaining Group: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position: 6 hours per day, 190 days per school year (10 months), 5:45‑8:15 am, 10:30‑12:30 pm, 2:00‑4:00 pm
Salary: $24.55‑$28.74 (educational incentive available in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreement as negotiated)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED)
- Maintain a current valid Washington State Drivers License;
- Maintain a current valid CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsement;
- Maintain required driver in‑service trainings;
- Maintain current First Aid certification;
- Knowledge of technology for communication;
- Knowledge of Washington State Pupil Transportation Procedures and requirements;
- Skill to work with children.
- Maintain student transportation services by driving a school bus on scheduled routes and/or on all types of trips in support of district approved activities, both within and outside the school district boundaries.
- Maintain decorum and discipline of students on the bus by following building handbooks and District discipline procedures and policies.
- Operate a school bus in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington and District policies promulgated by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
- Maintain a safe student transportation environment by performing required operational and safety inspections of the school bus and all related equipment as required by the laws of the State of Washington and District policy and procedures and by immediately reporting any mechanical defects and safety hazards to the Transportation Supervisor.
- Facilitate student safety by being prepared to provide first aid when necessary.
- Maintain District records by legible and accurate completion of forms, records, time sheets, trip requests, route studies, trouble reports, misconduct reports, accident reports and other clerical type activities as may be required.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational trainings and required bus driver in services.
- Protect the District by keeping information confidential.
- Demonstrate the importance of safety by maintaining a safe and orderly working environment and following safe work practices.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed or requested.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
- Generally, the job requires:
- ~ 5% lifting ~ 40 lbs.
- ~ 55% of the work day standing, reaching, bending, stooping, walking
- ~ 40% of the time working from a sitting position
- This job is performed under temperature variations consistent with indoor and outdoor temperatures.
- This job may require interaction with students displaying aggression, non-compliance, and other conduct problems.
